Some Helpful fishing tips
-
If you are using live
baits, bait your hook with the various baits and then spray Fool-a-Fish on the bait. Dangle the bait freely in the air to allow it to dry as best as possible.
Also when using live baits. It has been effective to add Fool-a-Fish directly to your bait well water. However, the effectiveness diminishes with larger water capacities. If that is the case follow the initial instructions.
Will it harm live bait?
No
Quality affected by freezing?
Not affected – shake after it thaws.
Is there a return policy?
None. Replacements are made if fingertip sprayers are defective.
Effect of murky or muddy water?
Generally remains effective depending on degree of murkiness or
mud.
Effect on different species of fish?
Generally effective on all species. May not be effective for certain subspecies of catfish and sturgeon. Unclear for shell fish.
Do I put the scent on first or Fool-a-Fish?
Fool-a-Fish 1st, as it is designed to stay on the lure or bait, and scent 2nd, as it is designed to disperse in the water.
Have there been any controlled tests regarding claims that fish prefer Fool-a-Fish sprayed lures or baits?
That they really see it as a “disco ball”? Underwater video showing how the fish react to lures sprayed as opposed to untreated?
Captain John Keizer, one of the founders of Salmon University Fishing Institute in Seattle, Washington has written on several occasions that cut herring sprayed with Fool-a-Fish caught 3-4 times as many salmon as unsprayed cut herring identically and simultaneously trolled behind his fishing boat. Captain Keizer also wrote, “Instructors have sprayed it (Fool-a-Fish) on lures, flashers, hootchies and plugs, all which showed better results than the same lures not
treated with Fool-a-Fish.”
David Mull, editor of the
Great Lakes Angler Magazine, wrote in the April, 2006 edition (p. 10) that he participated in a fishing tournament on Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes of the USA.. Using Fool-a-Fish, David Mull caught six lake trout and one brown trout when no fish of these species were caught by anyone else.
Mr. Mull then wrote in his last paragraph, “The next day, half of our spread had lures with Fool-a-Fish; the other half of
the lures were untreated. The half with the UV enhancer caught seven of our eight fish, including all three of our biggest kings (King Salmon).
Is it the magic potion to help fill everyone's cooler? No. But it certainly helps to catch fish on some days.”
Otherwise we rely on our customers’ testimonials and trials to prove our claims.
How many lures can a 2 oz bottle treat?
100 squirts with about 1 – 2 per lure.
Non-Toxic?
All ingredients have low toxicity, no fluorides, chlorides, lead, zinc, bromides, iodides, cadmiums.
All have been widely used in cosmetics for over 30 years in creams, lotions, etc.
How long should I let it dry and will it dry on live bait?
We suggest overnight drying for best results on lures. Live or wet bait will not dry completely so will stay on 5 to 10 minutes.
Does it work for night fishing or with lights?
We believe any type of light would provide some reflection with
Fool-a-Fish, much better, of course, if it has an ultraviolet
component.
Is there a difference between Bait & Lure Formula and Fly Formula?
The Fly Formula is a bit less concentrated to allow more flexibility of the fly.

Brenda also caught the largest salmon. Peter Pittman won the South Puget Sound Salmon Tournament 2005. Fool-a-Fish was used in Finland to catch the largest Atlantic salmon of the year in 2005. On March 12, 2006 Carl Gowin won the Bassmaster Tournament in Oklahoma using Fool-a-Fish to catch his 17 lb 1 oz bass.
